May–August 2010
Research Advisor: Michelle Horning
Goshen College, Senior Business Internship, Goshen, Ind.
Quantified the economic impact of fairgrounds and its events. Data from two main events, 2010 Elkhart County 4-H Fair, second largest county fair in the country, and 2010 Recreation Vehicle Rallies, was collected and analysed. Additionally, social impact of the County’s 4-H program was assessed.

-Provided event coordination and execution support for the Museum’s annual fundraisers Gala, Kouzina and Trial

-Rejuvenated the Membership program through accurate data entry, prompt follow-up and retention and recruitment efforts
-Managed the Legacy Brick program leading to a 220% increase in revenue from previous years

The function of this position is to create web and print promotional materials and to come together with other community figureheads to think of effective ways to introduce Saxifrage to the community.

PULSE Fellow
Pittsburgh Urban Leadership Service Experience, Pittsburgh, Pa.

PULSE is a leadership and service opportunity with a mission of cultivating a community of young servant leaders to transform Pittsburgh. For an 11-month period, PULSE fellows work at a local nonprofit organization for 35 hours a week based on personal and professional interests. PULSE also holds weekly seminars that help PULSE fellows to develop themselves personally and professionally through lectures and service projects.

AmeriCorps Member

AmeriCorps is a volunteer program in which members engage communities in a variety of activities depending on which subcategory of the program they are in. For the AmeriCorps ACES and VISTA programs, members volunteer in sectors that cater low-income individuals and communities especially in nonprofit and education. Completed over 2,000 hours of service.

A group of Latino students was put together by the Goshen College Center for Intercultural Teaching and Learning to document the growing Latino community in Elkhart County through photojournalism. Our goals were to record the community’s strengths and concerns while promoting critical dialogue and knowledge through photography and narratives that would reach policy makers.
